The revolutionary Stop ‘N’ Go range by PPE and workwear supplier, PK Safety, have been confirmed as sponsors for the highly anticipated National Refuse Championships 2019.
Last year, PK Safety set themselves a goal to dramatically reduce reversing incidents and accidents in the waste collection and transfer sectors with the launch of their Stop’N’Go safety gloves. The gloves have been designed for use by banksmen and reversing assistants, coloured red and green on the palm and back of the hand to respectively align with the hand signals suggested by the HSE for communicating with reversing vehicles. The range has been designed with the collaboration of SUEZ R&R Ltd and has been created with the aim of providing a simple and convenient solution to improving reversing operations both on-site and whilst undertaking collection rounds.
Roy Wells (Managing Director of PK Safety) explained: “It’s such a simple idea, we can’t believe it hasn’t been done before. We’ve had fantastic feedback from everyone we’ve presented the Stop ‘N’ Go concept to. There is nothing to install, nothing to hold and nothing you need to be trained on which makes it the convenient switch from your current safety gloves. No stress, no mess. We’ve kept it nice and simple, how safety should be.”
The National Refuse Championship is an annual charity event organised by Refuse Vehicle Solutions, in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
The event raised over £ 21,000 for Alzheimer’s Society in 2018 and according to the organizers, the goal is to beat last year’s total.
Throughout the day, there are over 30 teams racing bin lorries and wheelie bins against each other on the 15th June. The teams consist of private waste companies and local authorities, including Biffa, Simply Waste, Dennis Eagle, Hills Waste, Allison Transmissions and more! It’s a fantastic day that not only celebrates the people who collect our waste and recycling, but raises money for a good cause. All while being a fun day out, for members of the public to spectate.
The winning team will be crowned the National Refuse Champions 2019 and given a trophy.
Each member of the winning team will receive vouchers towards a Center Parcs holiday; second place team members will each receive £250 worth of Buy-A-Gift Vouchers; and third place team members will all receive £200 worth of Buy-A-Gift Vouchers.
Wells added: “PK Safety are so excited to have the opportunity to sponsor this event. We came across one of the videos of the races last year and knew we had to do something to support it. It’s a great way for people in the waste and recycling sector to connect, showcase our Stop ‘N’ Go safety glove range and raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.”
PPE and workwear supplier, PK Safety will be sponsoring some of the advertising boards and all the personalised t-shirts worn by all the teams during the National Refuse Championship.
