GlassGuard’s BlackBand lamp coatings have recently undergone testing by a leading UK test laboratory.

A drop test after 50,000 burning hours showed no degradation of the fragment retention qualities of the lamps. This is an important confirmation of the effectiveness and longevity of the BlackBand coating, which protects products, profits and personnel by retaining the glass fragments in case of accidental lamp breakage.

The 50,000 hours of protection provided by the GlassGuard BlackBand range of fluorescent lamps far exceeds the minimum requirement for IEC 61549 (BS EN 61549) Fragment Retention Lamp Standard. The coating will retain its mechanical properties throughout the life of the lamp ensuring glass retention at the end of the lamp life. A lumen loss of less than one percent was also recorded from the 50,000 hour life.
