The British Safety Council is now offering the NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety, a new, globally recognised training course and qualification for those with health and safety responsibilities in the international oil and gas industry.
Aimed at workers in both the onshore and offshore oil and gas sectors, the five day course provides managers, supervisors, newly appointed safety advisers and rank and file workers with the knowledge and skills to help manage health and safety during all aspects of hydrocarbon extraction, processing and storage. Based on international standards and management systems, the course covers topics such as safety and environmental management, fire protection and emergency response, and logistics and transport operations.
Delivered face to face in a classroom setting, the course is available both on an ‘in company’ basis and as a public course, open to all. The first public course is due to be held at the British Safety Council’s London Learning Zone in the first quarter of 2013, and the first organisation to receive the course ‘in company’ is RasGas, Qatar’s liquefied natural gas giant. RasGas is training a mix of safety officers and industrial hygiene staff from its LNG processing plants.
