Equipment and products operating in hazardous areas are required to meet stringent criteria. They must be ‘protected’ to avoid the possibility of them becoming a source of ignition. Weighing systems are often an integral part of a process within the hazardous area and therefore must have suitable protection.

Although a variety of hazardous area weighing applications exist, capturing and communicating weighing results to an existing plant network safely is often a complex and challenging task.

METTLER TOLEDO’s new white paper, Weighing in Hazardous Areas – Safe – Easy – Flexible, takes a closer look at the different configurations of weighing systems in hazardous areas and their benefits.

The paper covers equipment manufacturer and employer obligations, reviewing ATEX, IECEx and FM guidelines. It also discusses safety issues that are specific to weighing technology to help enhance assessment of this equipment which is commonly used in industrial processing.
