Designer and manufacturer of intrinsically safe and explosion-proof equipment, Extronics, has recently launched its latest digital camera for hazardous areas – the iCAM501 Ultra. Building on from the original iCAM501, the Ultra has a number of new enhancements whilst retaining the features of the original model.

A new LED flash array provides three times more illumination power, allowing pictures to be taken in the darkest situations. This feature is controlled by the enhanced software which regulates the flash intensity depending on the ambient light available. Additionally, the iCAM501 Ultra has a new, high performance lens which, allied to the powerful image analysis software, provides improved picture quality and overall camera performance. The new date stamp feature provides valuable chronological information when reviewing pictures. The camera also comes with a new, removable rubber casing which enhances durability and grip whilst retaining portability and ease of use.

Extronics is also offering a low cost upgrade option to existing users of the iCAM501.
