At Offshore Europe 2013, Finning Power Systems (Finning), on a shared stand with Cat rental equipment supplier, Energyst, will be exhibiting the Cat C18 ACERT fire pump engine featuring a new IP66 wiring harness, to enable continued operation in the harshest of conditions.

The show will also see the launch of Finning’s Cat HazPak range of power solutions for ATEX compliance and its brand new well stimulation pump packages for fracking and cementing applications.

The Finning stand 3D220 will be shared with Cat rental equipment supplier, Energyst, which provides a modern fleet of generator equipment, including power modules for use in offshore applications.

Visitors to the stand can also learn more about the company’s wide range of ATEX-compliant power solutions, including custom-designed packages, alongside the Cat CM offshore power module for fast commissioning in existing offshore installations.

Further product information

C18

Suitable for use in safe and hazardous areas, the C18 is designed to meet the requirements of pumping, crane, and power generation applications.

Exhibited on the Finning stand is a bespoke C18 engine designed for a safe area fire pump application. The unit has been upgraded with a higher specification wiring harness and dual ECM’s to meet the harsh tropical environments where increased IP ratings are required.

In addition to the example on the stand, Finning also offers a wet manifold C18 engine, which is available for ATEX applications as a pre-engineered or custom engineered solution. Finning also offers a number engines from the Cat range, including the C7, C9, 3406, C15, C18 and C32, with considerable stock for the C18 715bhp engine, to help reduce production lead times.

HazPak

Launched in addition to the bespoke ATEX packages that Finning has provided for many years is the new Cat HazPak series, which is a comprehensive range of ATEX-certified power solution equipment.  Available as a standard product package, HazPak engines can be ordered, built and delivered in a short timeframe, to provide a fast, pre-engineered solution for customers requiring a proven ATEX-compliant power solution.

All units in the range are fully certified for use in atmospheres classed as Zone 2, gas group IIA and temperature class T3.  The range is designed to provide complete protection from explosion, and includes features such as a water-cooled turbocharger and exhaust manifold, and a spark arrestor, to prevent any sources of ignition.

For high horse power and custom applications, Finning can design, build and test a bespoke ATEX mechanical pumping or power generation solution to meet MCS requirements for fixed and floating platforms, using the Cat 3500/3600 series of engines installed in pressurised modules to EN60079.  The purpose-engineered solutions can be built to comply with a number of stringent safety and environmental requirements.

Through the expertise of its internal engineering team, Finning can manage all aspects of project delivery, placing particular importance on maintaining design integrity, even when alternative parts are required.

Well stimulation pump & packages

Visitors to the show will also be able to learn about Finning’s new range of well stimulation packages, providing customers with a stand alone pump or a complete package for cementing and fracking applications.

Downtime can prove costly, so Finning’s purpose-built well stimulation packages are designed to perform at rated load with decreased downtime, and with unmatched durability and easy maintenance.

Combining a pump, transmission and an engine, the packages offer an integrated solution for pressure-pumping applications and provide a single source for all warranty and service work.

Including seamless integration of proven Cat components, units are delivered with all components ready assembled and wired for easy installation.

Power module

In addition, visitors to the show will be able to view and discuss Finning’s bespoke offshore CM power generation module.

The power module can be easily assembled on site at a shipyard or fabricators’ yard.

The ability to install the complete generator set through the upper access hatch enables construction of the module and the generator set at the same time. This shortens the overall delivery and installation process, saving time and money.

The module can be designed to run on liquid fuel, diesel oil, crude oil, heavy fuel oil (dependent on engine size), gas or in bi-fuel mode. Remote monitoring means that it may be easily operated from the main control room or locally. Finning’s offshore oil and gas team works closely with the customer’s designers to ensure all interface and connection points are easily accessible.

Energyst rental solutions

Operating from depots in Aberdeen, Scotland, and Stavanger, Norway, Energyst offers turnkey rental solutions for power generation and temperature control.

The company’s modern fleet includes generators, transformers, load banks, distribution boxes and ancillaries including a specific range to meet the latest offshore requirements.

Offshore power modules in the Energyst range are provided as standard with a fire and gas detection and fire extinguishing system, air shutoff, spark arrestor, emergency stop and sea mist filters. The modules use Cat C32 ACERT technology, offering highly advanced combustion technology to optimise performance and meet the most stringent emissions reduction standards.

Throughout the show, experts will be on hand to discuss Finning’s all makes, all models product support, including the various finance packages on offer.
