Elfab, a global manufacturer of pressure relief solutions, reveals a new solution for sanitary (hygienic) applications. Elfab is today launching a new solution designed to meet the needs of the global pharmaceutical industry. Pure-Gard is a pressure relief device specifically for use in sanitary (hygienic) manufacturing environments including pharmaceutical and food. The product has been designed and developed by Elfab’s engineers at the company’s headquarters in North Shields.
The main applications for the CE certified device will be in sanitary process industries where cleanliness and compliance are critical. The industry requirements for cleanability are now met with certainty by the crevice and dimple free design, with each product undergoing a rigorous testing programme including 100% dye penetrant testing and 100% helium leak testing. During development, capability was proven via an independent riboflavin test.
Elfab’s design team has developed a one-piece assembly, providing protection for the rupture disc, avoiding the risk of damage at the point of installation and giving structural stability. Another feature which sets Pure-Gard apart from conventional sanitary pressure relief solutions and extends the product’s life is that the solution is independent of the gasket, allowing regular change of the gaskets when required. The concept of the reusable cartridge is further enhanced with the addition of the optional Vent-Tel burst-detection accessory. The ATEX/IECEx intrinsically safe device is reusable and once fitted it remains in permanent operation.

Pure-Gard will be manufactured in Elfab’s facility in North Shields, alongside their other products which are used in various industries worldwide to provide protection for people, equipment, processes and the environment.
